Technology Autobiography

My first encounter with technology in the classroom was at a rural school in Western Massachusetts. As a teacher of students with intensive special needs, I had the opportunity to work at a school where each student had access to a computer. In the early 1990′s use of technology in the classroom was just becoming common place. It was especially true for those of us in special education. Assisitive technology provides students with special needs the means to express themselves, and a path way to independence. I learned how to use diffrent soft ware to teach students to express themselves as well as communicate with their teachers and peers with dignity. Assistive technology was changing rapidly through the 1990′s, and soon I had to learn more about how to use technology in the classroom.
